Pakistan thrashed New Zealand by 102
runs in the fourth ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi on Friday to take an
unassailable 4-0 lead in the five-match series.
Babar Azam scored a brilliant
century to help Pakistan post a challenging total of 334-6 in their 50 overs.
The New Zealand batsmen were never in the chase, the middle order built a good
partnership and show some resistance but was bowled out for 232 in 43.4 overs.
With this win, Pakistan has also taken over the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings.
Babar Azam's Masterclass
Babar Azam was the star of the show
for Pakistan with a brilliant century. The Pakistan captain scored 107 off 117
balls, hitting 10 fours. He also became the fastest batsman to get 5000 runs in
just 97 innings.
Babar's inning was the backbone of
Pakistan's innings and helped them post a challenging total.
New Zealand's Batting Collapse
New Zealand's batsmen were never in
the chase and were bowled out for 232 in 43.4 overs.
The New Zealand openers, Will Young
and Tom Blundell, started the team with a 36-run partnership. After Will
Young Tom Blundell quickly threw away his wicket and took New Zealand to the
desert of trouble. However, the New Zealand middle order showed some resistance.
Daryl Mitchell made 34 runs, Mark Chapman 46 runs and Tom Latham the Captain made
60 runs. The middle order built a good chasing partnership and took the score
to 184/4. After Mark Chapman's wicket, the whole team collapsed on 232.
Pakistan's Bowling Attack
Pakistan's bowling attack was on top
of their game and bowled New Zealand out for a low total.
Usama Mir was the pick of the
bowlers for Pakistan with four wickets. Mohammad Wasim picked up 3 wickets and
Haris Rauf picked up two wickets.
With this win, Pakistan has also
